2019 ELECTION- Buhari Close To Tears As APC Endorses Atiku For 2019 Presidency

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has unveiled former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, as the party’s preferred Presidential candidate for 2019.

Abba Jimeta, a Chieftain of the APC, and Chief of Staff to the Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, said this at the flag-off of the construction of Girei-Wuro Bokki road, by the Adamawa State Governor, Muhammad Jibrilla Bindo, during the weekend.

He said all elected and appointed officials in the State, would work for Atiku, as soon as he declares his intention to contest.

“The entire Adamawa State government, is firmly behind the former Vice President; wherever he (Atiku) goes, the State government is behind him.

“From the Governor, to the Deputy Governor, the Secretary to the State government, Commissioners, the Special Advisers, and Special Assistants, and all other Political Appointees, and Members of the State House of Assembly are behind Atiku.”

Jimeta, observed that Atiku had done well for the economy of the State and the nation, and that the people of Adamawa, will reciprocate his generosity.

“Such an important figure in Adamawa State; we as a government have nothing to pay him back, than to support all his political ambitions, and to give him our support, if he declares to run for any political office”, he added

According to records, Atiku contested the 2007 elections, and took third place, behind the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Umaru Yar’Adua, and the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.

Atiku, also returned to the PDP, to contest the 2011 Presidential election, when a committee of Northern Elders selected him as the Northern Consensus Candidate, over former Military President, Ibrahim Babangida, former National Security Adviser, NSA, Aliyu Gusau, and the current Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

In January 2011, Atiku contested for the Presidential ticket of the PDP, alongside former President, Goodluck Jonathan, and Sarah Jubril, but lost the primary in favour of Jonathan.

Atiku, whom many commentators likened to a cat with nine lives, also tried to run in 2015, on the platform of the APC, but was defeated by President Buhari, in the party’s primaries.
